The opening game of the Pre-NUGA saw the premier technical university in Nigeria, the seventh on the NUC state institution ranking beaten to stupor by the gallant boys from Ogbomosho.
The Tech-U football team were put to the sword by the psyched-up boys from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, starting the Pre-NUGA qualification game in an embarrassing fashion, as they were trounced 7-1 in the first game. Demoralising the spirit of a school in her first official inter-university game.
One would think the Ladokites are taking a revenge of the doings of the immediate past Governor of Oyo state on Tech-U. As even with a man less, they paralysed the pitch and took control of the game from the first seconds to the final whistle.
Let’s face it, lie be untold, if Lautech, a state University could thrash Tech-U with such a humiliating wide margin, one can only hope that soul remains of the body of the technical students after the 90 minutes tomorrow as they lock horns with No. 1 University in Nigeria tomorrow.
With students pointing fingers of blame at some players and members of the coaching staff for the loss, the team had better assemble themselves before the load of time dawns on them when they face the host institution tomorrow.
