On Wednesday, 16th March, 18 athletes from First Technical University touched down at University of Lagos to participate in the 26th edition of NUGA competition. They will be joining other 135 Universities with 6,000 athletes to compete in 17 different games.
Of the 17 games to be contended for, Tech-U managed to win tickets for just Athletics-9, Taekwondo-4 and Table Tennis-5 during the pre-NUGA held at University of Ibadan in February. The opening ceremony is slated to hold on Saturday and the competition will starts officially on Monday.
The competition which was supposed to have been held in 2020 but delayed due to the unanticipated global outbreak of COVID-19 will run for ten days between 20th to 30th March, 2022.
This is the first major sport outing for First Technical University. Regardless of the fact that the teams are still adolescent, the Vice Chancellor charges them to bring gold medals home. “Come and show me your golds in my office” He charges.
